Pieni Unikko Acrylic Coated Cotton in cotton, finnish indigo

This unbleached acrylic-coated cotton fabric features the Pieni Unikko pattern, which is printed in Helsinki. Thanks to the protective finish, the fabric is easy to wipe clean with a damp cloth making it perfect as a tablecloth. 

This fabric was printed with natural indigo, a plant-based dye extracted from Finnish woad. The colour may fade slightly which is part of the natural characteristic. 

Marimekko’s famous poppy pattern Unikko was born in 1964 in a time when the design house’s collections featured mostly abstract prints. Designer Maija Isola wanted to create something interesting from this organic theme and designed an entire range of floral prints. Today, the iconic flower represents creativity.
