Pieni Unikko Ovenmitten in cotton, indigo

Made from unbleached cotton, this oven mitten features the Pieni Unikko pattern, which is printed in Helsinki. The oven mitten has a padded filling and a hanging loop. 

The fabric has been printed with natural indigo, a plant-based dye extracted from Finnish woad. The colour may lighten a little during the first few washes and use which is part of the natural charm. 

Marimekko’s famous poppy pattern Unikko was born in 1964 in a time when the design house’s collections featured mostly abstract prints. Designer Maija Isola wanted to create something interesting from this organic theme and designed an entire range of floral prints. Today, the iconic flower represents creativity.
