This Unikko (poppy) pattern face cloth is made of jacquard cotton terry. This light brown towel was coloured with a dye made using plant waste from agricultural and herbal industries. It is characteristic of these dyes that the colour will beautifully lighten over time. The second photo is gives a more accurate indication of the colour.
Marimekko’s famous poppy pattern Unikko was born in 1964 in a time when the design house’s collections featured mostly abstract prints. Designer Maija Isola wanted to create something interesting from this organic theme and designed an entire range of floral prints. Today, the iconic flower represents creativity.
