Bolt of Cloth is known for colour — the kind that makes a room (or a day) feel different.
From bold cushions and considered homewares to gifts people truly want to keep, everything here is chosen because it's well designed, genuinely useful, or just makes us smile.
The name tells you where we started. Bolt of Cloth began as a fabric store with a sewing team — a place built around helping people make things. Then the Christchurch earthquakes took our CBD store, our home in Sumner, and most of our plans along with them. We rebuilt, as you do, and kept the fabric going alongside a growing range of gifts and homewares — until eventually the homewares won. What emerged was a gift and homewares store shaped as much by necessity as by instinct. The colour, the craft, the love of things that feel considered — none of that changed. Just what we do with it.
These days, the hunt is for brands worth knowing that most New Zealanders haven't met yet — from the design studios of Scandinavia and the Netherlands to makers in France, the UK, Australia, and right here at home. If we love it, we find a way to bring it back.
We're a colourful place, and people tend to feel it the moment they walk in. Our customers are pretty fabulous, and we think they deserve genuinely good service — no hard sell, no awkward hovering, just real help when you want it and space to browse when you don't.
