“I was dancing with brushes,” said Maija Isola. In 1961, she spent many evenings and nights working in Marimekko’s print factory – painting in gentle, sweeping brushstrokes to the sway of music. Meter upon meter of new patterns emerged. On one of those nights, Silkkikuikka (great crested grebe), a pattern of alluring rhythm and simplicity, saw daylight.
Each roll measures 70cm wide, 10m long. Straight match, 64cm repeat. Printed on a non-woven paper backing. More colours and designs available.
